What is digitization?
Witten and David (25) defined digitization as the process of obtaining digitized library documents, which shape books and papers and convert them into electronic forms, where they can be stored and manipulated by computers. It is essentially about turning analog information into digital data to facilitate access and extend the life of the study. This process is not an isolated activity, but an active part of running a library.
Since the main purpose of libraries is to acquire and store materials, for those seeking information, the advantage of having this material in digital form is quite obvious. This national information from various sources can be stored digitally using a large number of technologies and can be kept in good condition for a long time, while being easily accessible to a large number of researchers. The main concern of current libraries is to preserve valuable, disturbing or degraded works of art, the preservation of which is an expensive and tedious process. Libraries save time and effort by preserving these works while getting them digitally from different libraries; Save them more efficiently by ensuring that all of these components are always available for use at all times.
Finally, it can be said that digitization is the process of converting written or printed records into electronic format. It can also contain audio images that combine the shapes described above. The integrated electronic output can then be deployed on modern information systems such as the Internet or Intranet. This electronic output can also be in Portable Document Format (PDF) format in Tagged Image File Format (TIFF) format.
It has become commonplace, more and more information is digitized and downloaded on the Internet or on a compact disc, so that it is accessible, easy and fast around the world.
Digital preservation:
With the rapid development of information technology and communication systems, the organization and management of this information has undergone major transformations (Mazumdar, 23).
This has had a profound effect on the digital preservation of digital files in libraries and data centers, mainly in the field of preservation. The preservation of digital entities can take many forms to protect our heritage, be it digital images, electronic journals, databases, websites, audiovisual material or interactive programs.
Preservation can be defined as a set of activities designed to ensure the preservation of durable documents and to create easy access with the latest technical advantages.
Encyclopedia of Information Technology (Amjad, 20) defines the term digital preservation as "the process of preserving documents produced in a digital format under favorable conditions." Physical conservation issues become obsolete in computer hardware, software, and media. It also refers to the practice of digitizing media primarily in a non-digital format (print, film, etc.) to avoid permanent damage due to deterioration of physical media. "
So there are two dimensions to digital preservation: first, storing material that is already in digital form and second, digitizing and storing the potential item that is wasted over time. Once this is done, all content can be accessed at the global level. For this national conservation, two processes are followed,
A. Components to create an image file.
B. To analyze and use error-free processes in a text file.
Once done, these files can be stored on secondary devices and placed in the appropriate storage area.
